The Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday said it has identified the man filmed firing gunshots to celebrate the reopening of the Ladipo auto spare parts market, Lagos State.

The Lagos State Government had ordered the closure of the market due to environmental offences and later reopened it after the market adhered to the environmental rules of the state.

In a way to celebrate, the traders had trooped out in their numbers to parade the market, while one of them pulled out an Ak-47 rifle and fired gunshots.

In a viral video shared on X platform (formerly Twitter) Tuesday, the man was seen firing shots into the air while onlookers cheered him on.

The spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in his first reaction, stated that a probe had been launched and the man would be identified.
