The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that only 4,756 out of the 1,955,069 candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scored 320 and above. This figure represents just 0.24% of the total candidates.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, shared the statistics during a press conference held in Abuja while officially announcing the release of the 2025 UTME results. The maximum score for the exam is 400.

According to Prof. Oloyede, more than half of the candidates—precisely 983,187—scored between 166 and 199, making it the most common score range. A total of 334,560 candidates, representing 17.11%, scored between 200 and 249. Meanwhile, 7,344 candidates (3.76%) scored between 250 and 299, and 7,658 (0.39%) scored between 300 and 319.

On the lower end of the scale, 488,197 candidates (24.97%) scored between 140 and 159, while 57,419 (2.94%) fell between 120 and 139. A total of 820 candidates (0.20%) scored between 100 and 119, and 2,031 candidates (0.10%) scored below 100.

The data paints a clear picture of the overall performance distribution and highlights how competitive the higher score brackets remain.
