Just recently, OPPO introduced the OPPO Care Initiative in hopes to alleviate the feeding struggles as a result of the lockdown as it translates to an even lower standard of living for many.

As Nigeria struggles to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, disrupting Nigerian citizens and the country’s economy, the government has been faced with the daunting task of enforcing an extension on the lockdown- a precautionary measure adopted to stop the increasing numbers of infected cases in the country.

In Lagos, the country’s trade center, with a growing population of over 21 million people with a certain number of people living in poverty, residents are forced to remain at home to wait out the pandemic. OPPO Mobile Nigeria decided to change its Corporate Social Responsibility direction to alleviate the struggles among the displaced, impoverished and less privileged, by creating avenues to generally improve their standards of living.

In order to support these most vulnerable communities of Lagos, OPPO Nigeria partners with Lagos Food Bank, a reputable NGO that has a solid track record of fighting malnutrition and hunger through targeted programs among the grassroots. OPPO’s objective is to provide food and alleviate hunger as the city continues to enforce a total lockdown in an attempt to curb the spread of Covid-19.

As a way of giving back to society, OPPO Mobile represented by Joseph Adeola, the Public Relations Manager emphasized, that “the company finally has a chance to show its humanity to people who may have never come in contact with its product. The company sees this as an opportunity to help those in need, support the efforts of government and other private sector initiatives, while also demonstrating its global slogan of “designed for life”.

Finally, he admonished other brands to join OPPO Mobile reduce the food shortage problems currently experienced in the slums, as a show of humanity in the fight against Covid-19
