Protest: Oro festival to commence in Lagos from Aug 1

A traditional festival, ‘Oro’ has been scheduled for August 1 to 15 in Lagos State.
The Oro festival, among others, is a prominent festival in the Yoruba tradition.
It’s celebrated by male descendants and usually characterised by a daytime procession and high-pitched sounds in some areas or across the community as the case may be.
It’s believed that females and non-indigenes mustn’t be present during the ritual rites of the festival.
Some netizens have argued that this announcement was made to stop the planned nationwide protest which was scheduled for August 1 to 10.
Disclosing this, a Lagos media on X with username, @Lagospedia wrote, “Public Announcement:
“Attention Residents and Visitors of Lagos
“Please be informed that the Oro Festival will be observed in various communities across Lagos from 1st of August to August 15.
“This traditional Yoruba cultural event involves significant rituals.
