Six dead after fire outbreak at Gwarimpa Tipper market Abuja (Video)

There is an early morning fire outbreak at Tipper Market, 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa in Abuja, has claimed the lives of six persons.

Traders were thrown into confusion at wee hours of today after a fire destroyed wares estimated at millions of naira at the market.

According to Daily Sun, the fire outbreak which was caused by a spark in one of the shops, started at about 12am on Thursday and lasted for about two hours before the FCT Fire Service came to the scene.

One of the eyewitnesses told the media outlet that firefighters didn’t arrive at the scene until 2am, two hours after the market was engulfed by fire. The eyewitness who doesn’t want her name mentioned, said the firefighters claimed that they were not informed on time.

In the videos of the incident posted on social media showed firefighters from the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service could be seen battling to put out the blaze which consumed several shops and makeshift stalls.

Some individuals could also be seen trying to rescue their goods and properties as the fire spread from shop to shop.

The director-general, FCT Emergency Management Agency, Alh. Idris Abass is yet to confirm the incident.
