Soldier who shot and killed his newly-married colleague sentenced to death by firing squad

Azunna Maduabuchi, a trooper who shot and killed his newly wed colleague, Lieutenant Babakaka Ngorgi, in July 2020, has been sentenced to death by firing squad.

Trooper Maduabuchi was sentenced on Tuesday, January 12, by a court-martial sitting in Maiduguri, Borno State, after he was found guilty of capital murder.

Maduabuchi had shot the victim at close range — just few months after his wedding — in Bama LGA of Borno State for refusing to grant him a welfare pass.
