Suspended members of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, have travelled to the United Kingdom for a legislative tour. The lawmakers, who were previously at odds with Governor Siminalayi Fubara before President Bola Tinubu intervened with a state of emergency, have largely remained out of public view until now.
Despite their suspension, it was gathered that they and their families have continued to occupy official residences at the legislative quarters in Port Harcourt.
A statement released by Amaewhule’s Special Assistant on Media, Martins Wachukwu, confirmed their departure. Amaewhule reportedly flagged off the tour on Friday, stating that the trip aims to enhance the legislative skills of members through exposure to international parliamentary practices.
