There was tension on Thursday after a police officer allegedly sl+pped an Air Force officer during a disagreement over a tricycle’s movement on Ahmadu Bello Road, Ilorin, Kwara State.

According to witnesses, the incident began at Yoruba Road Market when officials from the Kwara State Traffic Management Authority (KWATMA), accompanied by police officers, stopped a tricycle carrying the Air Force officer.

SaharaReporters reports that the officer reportedly appealed to let the tricycle proceed, but the plea was met with a sl+p from one of the police officers. In retaliation, the Air Force officer exited the tricycle and physically confronted the police officer.

The Air Force officer was subsequently arrested and taken to a nearby police headquarters, close to the site of the altercation.

Tensions escalated further when other Air Force personnel arrived at the scene, resulting in a standoff between both sides. Police officers eventually fired tear gas to disperse the gathering.

Witnesses reported that the police stationed themselves along Sulu Gambari Road, while the Air Force personnel held their ground on Yoruba Road.
