A 300-level student of the Department of European Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan, Gbadebo Richard, allegedly died on Tuesday July 28, 2020, in an industrial accident.
According to reports, Richard, who was on a night shift at Henkel Expand Global Industries Ltd, producers of WAW detergent and soap, fell into one of the mixing machine at the Oluyole factory.
His colleagues were reportedly not aware of the accident until they saw blood on one end of the machine. In a post by one of his colleagues, minutes before the incident, the deceased had told him that’s his last mix for the shift, not knowing it would be his last one on earth.
A source revealed to SaharaReporters that his family members were not informed by the company until someone leaked the news to them. So they mobilised to the company and blocked the road, but about 30 police officers were called in to prevent disturbance.
“An ambulance later came and Richard’s father was allowed into the building. He later went with the body, packed in a plastic bag in the ambulance to the morgue at Teju Hospital without any of the staff of the factory,” the source added.
Meanwhile, his mom has complained about how they were treated by the company and has called on the State governor to shutdown the factory for a period of time so as to show the foreign owners that Nigerians lives really matter to the government.
