THE ORDINANCE OF DAY AND NIGHT

It is a given factor that the day is made up of evening and morning. Noteworthy is the fact that evening comes before morning. Nobody escapes the night as long as he is alive. No matter how much you love the day, you will experience the night. The night experience is a given factor for every living being but the experience is not the same for everyone. When you do nothing about your night, it becomes darkness. When you are in Ikoyi or Victoria Island in the night, you can tell that it is different if you have ever been in Ikorodu or Surulere in the night.

The night is the same but a part of town did something to reduce the potency of darkness in their environment. A city with street lights, adequate power supply good security can’t have the same view, impression and experience with another without those. The difference was in intentional measures taken to mitigate the influence of darkness over the night.

Regardless of what you know, confess and believe, you will have night seasons in your life. Many believers have been deceived to think that when you have the Holy Spirit you will not experience night seasons in your life. Even with intimate relationship with the father, you will go through the night: it is part of the glory of everyday.

The night season is that time your life hibernates. Yes it is when it seem as though you are not making progress. Have you been in a situation where you can’t see few meters ahead of you even when you had previously spoke so much about future like you already had it figured out? That’s a night season. The night is not just for those who are not skillful, spiritual or without sight. It is a given factor to go through certain experiences in your night. Refining crises are for our night seasons but joy comes in the morning.

Psalms 30:5
For His anger is but for a moment, his favor is for life. Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.

Awesome definition doesn’t scare the experienced because anyone can claim anything in fair weather. Surviving the night(refining crisis) makes champions. It verifies our resolve. Gamaliel reminded elders in counsel that Theudas and Judas rose claiming to be important but couldn’t survive refining crises(Acts 5:34-40). How prepared you are will show in your resolve, devotion and utterance in the night season. Why you need to respect those deserving of honour is because there are things they have survived that swallowed others.

Joseph in his night season was accused and sent to prison for attempted rape: that was a night season but it didn’t make him trust God less or spoke against him. He didn’t lose his humanity because of a night season but was sensitive to someone else’s plight. That was his opening to the palace. Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego were born royalties. Nebuchadnezzar conquered Jerusalem and took them captives. They were made eunuchs against their will and were placed at the service of the King. At a time, the King made a golden image and decreed that all must worship it with the consequence of a fiery furnace for defaulters. At that time, there was nothing else to lose for these three Hebrew boys but they said even if God chose not to save them, they can’t worship the golden image(Dan 3:16-25).

How prepared people are for their night will determine the extent darkness will prole its role. Through knowledge, illumination and network, people prepare themselves for the night with the resolve to reduce the influence of darkness over their night. The preparation of Egypt in the time of plenty under Joseph made them survive the seven years of famine. It is childish for a believer to assume that because he prays, fast and gives, the night must not come. You can’t stop the night but can do the needful in preparation of the night. Even Jesus worked and admitted the influence of the night on man.

John 9:4
I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.

The Bible said that there is time for everything. Time to record increase and time for loss. A time to laugh and a needed time to cry. Your preparation in the season of profit determines how you maximize the moments of pain.

Ecclesiastics 3:1-8.
To everything there is a season. A time for every purpose under heaven: 2 A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted; 3 A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; 4 A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance; 5 A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing; 6 A time to gain, And a time to lose;
A time to keep, And a time to throw away; 7 A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak; 8 A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war, And a time of peace.

Some people get angry and disappointed with God because of a night season and drop out of Faith. Don’t allow the night season make you lose your testimony. Considering the matters of destiny, testimony is weighteir than promise. Many people at the dawn of Faith didn’t get what was promised but they had the testimony of pleasing God(Hebrews 11:39).

Hebrews 11:5
By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

Nothing alternates testimony. Our testimony and the blood of the lamb guarantees our victory over the devil. There is something about testimony and faith because the victory that overcomes the world is our faith. All who pleased God had faith. There are moments that happenings will make someone doubt the existence of God. Faith makes you understand that he reward diligence in seekers. Regardless of what happens in your night hour, don’t lose the testimony of pleasing God. It is possible to have the testimony of pleasing God without obtaining the promise at the moment. There are seasons in people’s lives that those without testimony seem to be enjoying the promise but those keeping the principles are not. Don’t lose the testimony of pleasing God just because of that.

For whatever you betray your encounters to get, there are people who didn’t betray destiny and enjoyed it more abundantly: This truth should speak to your conscience. Don’t major in the insignificant and abandon the weighteir matters of your destiny. Living in a time that distractions go viral and the insignificant is highly celebrated, the temptation to abandon weightier matters of destiny is enticing. Don’t lose the testimony of pleasing God because of distractions. With the threat of a fiery furnace glaring at Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego, they obtained the testimony of pleasing God.

With so much at stake to lose, Joseph disappointed Potiphar’s wife and obtained the testimony of pleasing God. With all there is to enjoy in this life, one thing will count at the end of time: obtaining the promise of pleasing God. Many who work miracles, healed and did great things in God’s name will still be disappointed on the last day not because they were not busy but because they didn’t obtain the testimony of pleasing God. Whatever you compromise to get are the things you can enjoy more abundantly if you didn’t compromise by obtain the testimony of pleasing God. Never betray your future because of the anguish of the night because the morning comes with better promises.
