Bishop Mathew Kukah disclosed this in an interview with Arise News during the Prime Time program when he was responding to Charles Aniagolu’s question of where he derived his courage from by speaking to power without minding the consequences especially with how he was critical with Bubari’s administration.

Bishop Kukah responded that funny enough, President Buhari never get angry with him.

“I think he(Buhari) also understands where I am coming from, and that it didn’t start yesterday. And I never attempted to insult or abuse anybody.”
Bishop Kukah said until now, there is no president that have challenged him maybe because they know his heart is in right place and he’s close with all of them.

“Let me give you an example, General Abdusallam, when I got the invitation to speak, I called him that I’m surprised they ask me to speak and he said to me, you may make us unhappy but we know you are honest.”

“I share the letter of invitation to Peter Obi, that my friend, this is what is happening, they ask me to speak, and Peter Obi said to me, I am very delighted, please go! because I know what you are going to say.”
