Trinity Guy: Mixed reactions as court remands skit maker, victim’s parents in prison

Following an order of a Magistrate Court sitting at Iyaganku, in Ibadan, which remanded a popular skit maker and prankster, Maruf Abdullahi, also known as Trinity Guy, in prison over allegations of sexualising a minor in his viral skit video, Nigerians have expressed dissent views over the action of the Court.
The Magistrate, Mrs. P.O. Adetuyibi, ordered that the skit maker, alongside the parents of the minor, Isiaka Ahmed, 40, and his wife, Rofiat, 29, be remanded at Agodi Correctional Facility in Ibadan pending July 11 when the case would come up for mention.
The defendants were remanded on a two-count charge of conspiracy and sexual abuse and exploitation.
The order of the Magistrate has, however, led to different reactions from Nigerians who took to social media to express their diverse opinions about the development.
While some commended the judgment, saying that the skit maker’s pranks are always extreme and dangerous, others are of the opinion that the judgment is too harsh, adding that the young man is just trying to make a living for himself.
Supporting the development, a Twitter user, @temitayor_, wrote, “That video was horrible. I couldn’t even watch it. Whatever he gets, he deserves.”
“Very good decision. Any immoral and unethical skits should be discouraged by all legal means,” @Gboladeogundel opined.
Another user, @MawutinDeji, tweeted, “The eye of the law cannot be everywhere, but when it makes one OLORIKUNKUN a scapegoat, the other OLORIKUNKUNS will sit tight. These guys should sit down, engage their brains, and write funny content for us to enjoy, and not these silly pranks.”
“His pranks were too extreme and the particular prank with the child was not it at all. Total rubbish. He deserves whatever comes out of it. This should serve as a lesson to other pranksters.” @ulsherlan Tweeted.
Another user, @Oyedele3890, in a contrasting view stated that “If truly there’s God, God will prevails, because he was just an hustler whose trying hard to provide for his family needs….”
Another user, @Bhorlarsax “Temper justice with mercy please. Let this serve as last warning to him and everyone out there. Please Edakun Bikonu.”
“This is sad Trinity is such a beautiful happy soul, who keep helping the community the best of his power, I believe the law can just tamper Justice with mercy by checking his profile not using this uncalledfor prank to punish him, MY God help him this time”. @DaisiObanla expressed.
The embattled skitmaker has been trending online following the call for his arrest by the Police Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, over dangerous prank.
