Some officials of the Ado-Odo/Otta Local Government Council in Ogun State, reportedly came under heavy attacks, Friday, September 11, 2020, by an angry mob, mostly commercial motorcycle riders, following an accident that claimed two lives around the council secretariat.
It is reported that the accident, involving a Toyota Matrix car and an okada, was said to have been caused by some revenue collectors of the Local Government, resulting to fatality.
According to Crime Puzzle, the driver of the accident vehicle had sometime ago been accosted by the Council’s revenue collectors for an alleged traffic offence, during which he was made to part with N30,000.
However, on sighting the same squad of personnel, who flagged him down, the driver in a bid to escape, swerved and was unable to control the steering wheel, forcing the car to run over the road median and crushed an okada on the other side of the road.
Unfortunately, two persons on the okada were reportedly crushed to death while the third person sustained injuries.
Residents who witnessed the incident, in a rush of anger and in solidarity for their own, went on rampage and pounced on the council officials, beating them beyond recognition .
