U.S. Trade Representative Criticizes Nigeria’s Import Ban

The United States Trade Representative (USTR) has condemned Nigeria’s import ban on 25 product categories, saying it negatively impacts American exporters and restricts market access.
In a recent report, the USTR listed Nigeria’s restrictions among the top ten unfair trade practices currently affecting U.S. businesses globally.
The report comes amid rising global trade tensions, particularly following U.S.-imposed tariffs on several countries.
According to the USTR, Nigeria’s ban on items such as beef, pork, poultry, fruit juices, medicaments, and alcoholic spirits significantly limits American export opportunities.
The agency called for a review of these policies to foster fairer and more balanced trade between both nations.
