Nigeria defeats host nation Morocco to win WAFCON for the 10th time
The Super Falcons of Nigeria have defeated the host nation, Morocco, to win the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a 3 – 2 scoreline.
Nigeria were initially behind after Morocco found the net twice with goals from Ghizlane Chebbak and Mssoudy Sanaa in the first half.
However, Esther Okoronkwo broke the deadlock for Nigeria in the second half with a fine penalty, before Folashade Ijamilusi and Jennifer Echegini sealed the win to secure the 10th continental title for Nigeria.
