“Judge Me, I Want a Rich Man” — Tiwa Savage Opens Up About Her Current Dating Standards

Nigerian music sensation Tiwa Savage has sparked fresh conversation about dating dynamics, societal expectations, and financial compatibility in relationships during a candid segment of her recent interview.

The Afrobeats queen, known for her vocal prowess and bold personality, didn’t hold back as she addressed the pressures women face when choosing a partner, especially as successful, high-earning individuals.

Speaking honestly, Tiwa reflected on her past dating choices, admitting that she used to believe love was enough, even when financial security was absent.

“I think that was a mistake I used to make. Like, ‘Oh my God, I don’t care if you’re not making money, it’s just love,’” she said. “I think I’m just going to… I need someone that just has money. I think I’m at that point now.”

But her commentary wasn’t just about personal preferences — it also tackled the double standards in how men and women are judged when dating partners of different financial statuses.

“No one says that to men. If a rich man dates a woman with less status or income, it’s never called ‘dating down’ — people just say, ‘Oh, she’s beautiful,’” she explained. “But when a woman does the same, it becomes a problem.”

With a hint of sarcasm and defiance, the singer took aim at the h¥pocrisy:

“Men come with a long list: cook, clean, be submissive, listen, do this and that. We ask for one thing — just have money and suddenly we’re gold d+ggers?”

The “Somebody’s Son” hitmaker ended with a humorous yet pointed fantasy:

“Let me try what it’s like to just meet me at the jetty and take a plane to Monaco or Saint-Tropez. I’ve tried the other way for so many years.”
