“Europe is Boring,No Place Like Home,”— Super Eagles Victor Boniface Opens Up about His Choice of Residence

Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface, has opened up about his deep attachment to Nigeria, revealing that despite his successful career in Europe, he always looks forward to returning home.

Speaking on a podcast alongside fellow football stars Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka, and hosted by media personality VJ Adams, Boniface was asked where he would go if given a “blank cheque” to join any club. While Madrid was initially mentioned, the Bayer Leverkusen forward quickly leaned towards staying in Lagos and even joked about playing for MFM Football Club.

“For me, no place like home,” Boniface said. “I like coming back home, not like I forget home. When I’m there [in Europe], I come and go back, but I don’t stay too long. I miss everything about home—the food, the lifestyle, family, friends.”

He also shared that Europe, despite its opportunities, can feel “boring” compared to the vibrance of Nigeria. The striker noted that the cultural connection, warmth, and familiar environment make Lagos special for him.

His comments sparked laughter among the group, as they teased about what a “blank cheque” could mean for his career choices, with Boniface insisting that even limitless options wouldn’t take away his love for home.
