My children can’t get jobs due to my name — PDP chieftain Bode George decries hardship
According to a report by the Daily Trust on Friday, August 22, 2025. It was released that the former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has said the party will take a firm position on the lingering crisis involving the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
George, speaking in Lagos, stressed that the PDP could no longer remain silent on issues that affect its unity and survival. He said the controversies linked to Wike’s actions must be addressed in the interest of the party’s future.
According to him, while Wike has contributed to the PDP in the past, his position as a serving minister in the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government raises questions about loyalty and discipline.
“The PDP is bigger than any individual. Nobody is indispensable. If you are with the PDP, you must remain committed to the PDP. If you are elsewhere, then it should be made clear,” George said.
He urged the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) to take necessary decisions that will safeguard the party’s integrity ahead of future elections.
The crisis within the PDP deepened after Wike accepted a ministerial position in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, sparking debates about his membership and influence within the opposition party.
