Meet Mighty George, The World’s Longest Radio Talkshow Host
George Iniabasi Essien, popularly known as Mighty George, has officially been recognized as the Guinness World Record holder for the Longest Radio Talkshow Marathon. He achieved this remarkable feat by broadcasting live for 105 hours straight, surpassing the previous record of 88 hours set by Japan’s Taishi Masuoka in 2017.
The Record-Breaking Achievement
Between April 27 and May 1, 2025, Mighty George held listeners spellbound with conversations, stories, and inspiration on Comfort 95.1 FM in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, where he serves as Head of Programs. During this period, he interviewed over 100 guests, including prominent figures like Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, Pastor Abel Damina, State Commissioners, Sports Personalities, etc. Discussions ranged from entertainment and politics to mental health, sports and youth empowerment, making the show both long and impactful.
Mighty George’s achievement is not just a personal triumph but also a testament to the power of voice and perseverance.
As a seasoned radio personality with two decades of experience, Mighty George has demonstrated his commitment to excellence in broadcasting. A two-time Nigerian Sports Journalist of the Year, George, popularly known by his moniker “What A RUSH” is also the current holder of the Nigerian Presenter of the Year (Radio) award by the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission. This latest achievement cements his position as one of the leaders in Nigerian broadcasting.
