The 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has urged President Bola Tinubu to approve the creation of Ibadan State before 2027.
Oba Ladoja made the appeal while addressing residents shortly after receiving the Staff of Office from Governor Seyi Makinde. Speaking in Yoruba, he noted that the people of Ibadan had sent a clear message to the President, insisting that the creation of Ibadan State remains their top priority.
Governor Makinde, in his remarks, described Ladoja’s ascension as the 44th Olubadan as a moment of pride for the people. He said the coronation ceremony reflected the significance of preserving the city’s traditions, adding:
“It is a great honour to celebrate the coronation and official presentation of the Staff of Office to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adewolu Ladoja. The joy and excitement across Ibadan today highlight the importance of upholding our heritage.”
