Governor Fubara Relieves Commissioners Not Screened by Rivers Assembly
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has relieved of their appointments some commissioners in his cabinet who were not screened by the Martin Amaewhule-led House of Assembly.
The decision followed a Supreme Court judgment which reaffirmed the authority of the Amaewhule-led Assembly and the subsequent lifting of emergency rule in the state.
Governor Fubara informed the affected commissioners shortly after a valedictory session with the State Executive Council at Government House, Port Harcourt.
The move is in line with the peace deal brokered by President Bola Tinubu to stabilize governance in Rivers State. Fresh nominations are now expected to be presented by the governor to the Assembly for screening and confirmation.
In his Independence Day message, Governor Fubara thanked Rivers people for their support, reaffirming his commitment to serve the state with renewed vigor, while wishing all Nigerians a happy anniversary
