Nigerian singer Seyi Shay has revealed that she is not married to the father of her daughter, despite maintaining a close and respectful relationship with him.
Speaking during an interview on “With Chude,” the award-winning artiste opened up about her family life, clarifying long-standing speculations about her marital status.
“My daughter’s dad is Nigerian, from Nigeria. We are not married — it’s a technical issue,” she said.
Seyi Shay described her daughter’s father as “someone very special”, adding that their relationship remains amicable even though they live in different countries.
“He’s great. He’s in the UK at the moment and he’s also in the music industry, on the corporate side of things. We work well together raising our child and we are great friends,” she explained.
The “Right Now” crooner welcomed her daughter in 2022 and has often spoken about how motherhood has transformed her perspective on life and career.
Her latest revelation gives fans a rare glimpse into her personal life, showing that while she and her daughter’s father are not romantically together, they maintain a healthy co-parenting relationship built on friendship and mutual respect.
