Media personality Noble Igwe has opened up about the personal reason he has chosen not to relocate abroad with his wife, Chioma.
Speaking on the Mentality podcast hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Igwe said he is aware that his wife would easily secure a well-paid job overseas before he does — and he is not sure how he would handle that shift in their financial dynamic.
Igwe noted that his wife already holds a strong, respected professional role in Nigeria and comes from a family with a history of accomplishment and influence.
“A lot of people find it surprising when they find out my wife has a proper job. And on the Nigerian level, she makes decisions,” he said.
“My wife’s mum is a judge. Their dad was a minister in the old Eastern Region. She comes from a lineage of people who have been successful and done great things in their lives.”
He explained that moving abroad would likely put his wife in a strong economic position very quickly, while he might take longer to find his footing.
“But, as a Nigerian man, I have told my wife the reason it will be difficult for me to move overseas is that if we do move now, she will have the quicker job to earn a lot more than me before I find my foot — and I don’t know how I will take it, sincerely speaking.”
His candid admission has stirred conversation on social media about marriage dynamics, male ego, partnership, and the realities couples face when considering relocation.
