Princess Calls on Lagos Government to List Baba Ijesha in S+x Offenders Register despite Court of Appeal overturning his conviction

Comedian Princess has called on the Lagos State Government and the Ministry of Justice to immediately publish the name of Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, in the state’s s+x offenders register.

Princess, in a public statement, expressed concern that while other convicted offenders have had their details promptly published, Baba Ijesha’s case had been delayed due to his appeal, which progressed from the Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court. She noted that despite serving his prison term, his appeal was ultimately dismissed, leaving no legal basis for the continued omission of his name from the registry.

Emphasizing the importance of public safety, Princess stated that listing his information is vital for families and communities who might unknowingly grant him access to their homes or children. She warned that anyone choosing to associate with the actor does so “at their own risk.”

Princess also revealed that during the initial investigation, she personally spoke with about 12 alleged victims, adding that Baba Ijesha had been linked to multiple incidents involving adults, minors, and people living with physical or mental vulnerabilities. She described him as a “swift” offender who does not hesitate before att@cking, expressing fear that he could reoffend within a short period.

Addressing claims that he had been “vindicated,” Princess dismissed such narratives, stating that many of those spreading the claims do not reside in Nigeria and may be unaware of the full facts of the case.

While acknowledging that no form of justice can completely heal the tra¥ma endured by victims, she insisted that publishing his name remains a necessary step for public awareness and future protection.

She concluded with a stern warning to the public:
“You have the information. I don’t want to hear ‘I thought’ or ‘I assumed.’ Anyone assuming is doing so at their own detriment.”
