Gay rights activist Bisi Alimi went on a full morning rant on Instagram, touching everything from divorce rates to society’s double standards.
According to him, 40–50% of heterosexual marriages end in divorce globally, while many others stay together in “silent divorce” — couples who live under the same roof but are no longer a couple.
He hinted something might have triggered his posts, adding: “There is no smoke without fire, and there is one on the mountain.”
Bisi went on to say infidelity remains the biggest reason straight marriages collapse, describing it as another form of promiscuity.
He compared this to how society labels gay men as “promiscuous” and treats queer relationships as morally inferior, saying even the HIV/AIDS stigma was used to push that narrative.
He added that despite the stereotypes, data shows gay marriages often last longer within the first 10 years than heterosexual ones.
His point?
That the “moral high ground” society attaches to straight marriages is built on stereotypes and expectations many couples cannot meet.
He also claimed many parents stayed together not out of love, but out of fear of “what will people say,” describing it as shame passed down through generations.
Bisi ended by taking a shot at religious leaders, saying some of the biggest “sexual predators” are men holding scriptures and microphones.
He wrapped the posts with: “I don’t even know why I woke up like this today… let me go back to living my Brazilian dream.”
