Driver in Anthony Joshua crash arraigned for manslaughter
Kayode Adeniyi, the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the crash that killed two close friends of international boxer, Anthony Joshua, has been arraigned before a magistrate court in Ogun state.
Adeniyi was charged to the Sagamu magistrate court for manslaughter, reckless driving and related offences.
The accident occurred on Monday on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway which the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) blamed on overspeeding and wrongful overtaking.
Oluseyi Babaseyi, spokesperson of the Ogun state police command, said the case has been adjourned to January 20, 2026.
“Update: The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the Anthony Joshua accident case, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode (male), aged 46, was charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court today, 2nd January, 2026 and the case has been adjourned to 20th January, 2026,” he said.
He was discharged from a hospital in Lagos late on New Year’s Eve and driven to Abeokuta, where the crash occurred.
