Wike: Look At Those Who Have Led R/S; How Many Of Them Have Respected Their Previous Leaders?— Rev. Dr. Minaibi Dagogo-Jack

In a recent interview on Symfoni TV, the Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria in Rivers State addressed issues of political ingratitude and leadership conduct in the state, calling for greater respect among political actors toward their predecessors.

Speaking during the programme, Rev. Dr. Minaibi Dagogo-Jack directed a pointed question to former Governor Nyesom Wike, quoting the headline, “Look at those who have led Rivers State; how many of them have respected their previous leaders?” to emphasize the importance of political courtesy and acknowledgment of contributions made by past administrations.

Dagogo-Jack criticized the culture of ingratitude among some political actors, arguing that disrespecting predecessors fosters division and fuels ongoing crises in the state. According to him, many of the challenges currently witnessed in Rivers State stem from leaders failing to recognize the efforts and achievements of those who came before them.

Drawing from his own experience as a former governorship candidate, opposition leader, and community figure, the PFN chairman stressed that leadership is not just about power but also about responsibility and continuity. He highlighted that political stability is strengthened when outgoing and incoming leaders maintain mutual respect, collaboration, and recognition.

On the broader implications for governance, Dagogo-Jack noted that persistent political ingratitude undermines institutional credibility and creates an environment where the state becomes dominated by personal ambitions rather than collective progress. He concluded by reaffirming the church’s commitment to civic engagement, voter mobilization, and advocacy, stressing that religious and community leaders will continue to guide Rivers State toward fairness, justice, and peaceful political participation
