In a dramatic rescue, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service saved an 84-year-old man who had fallen into a deep well in the Aboru area of Lagos. The incident occurred at No. 35A, Fadeyemi Street, Pipeline.
According to a statement by the agency’s Controller General, Margaret Adeseye, a distress call was received at 10:09 a.m., prompting an immediate dispatch of rescue personnel, they arrived at the scene by 10:20 a.m.
The victim was reportedly trapped in a well estimated to be around 140 feet deep. Preliminary findings indicate that the well had been securely covered, suggesting the fall may have been a suspected suicide attempt.
The rescue team successfully recovered the man alive and handed him over to his family for further care. Investigations into the exact circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
