The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Kannywood actress Samha Inuwa over alleged ab¥se of the naira.
The anti-graft agency disclosed the arrest in a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Tuesday, alongside a photograph of the actress holding a placard detailing the alleged offence.
According to the EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, Inuwa was arrested by operatives of the commission’s Kano Zonal Directorate following a viral video showing her allegedly using naira notes to wipe mucus from her nose.
“The Kano Zonal Directorate of the EFCC on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, arrested a Kannywood star, Samha Inuwa, over alleged naira mutilation,” the statement read.
The commission said investigations are ongoing and confirmed that the actress will be charged to court upon the conclusion of its inquiry.
The EFCC noted that the arrest aligns with its continued enforcement of Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, 2007, which cr+minalises the ab¥se, mutilation, or improper handling of the naira.
