The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed a suspected bomb explosion at the State Secretariat Complex in Yenagoa on Wednesday morning.
According to the Police, the incident occurred around 6:00 a.m., prompting the Commissioner of Police, CP Iyamah Daniel Edebor, to deploy the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, Special Drone Unit, and other tactical teams to the scene.
Operatives successfully contained the explosion and later discovered another unexploded IED, which was safely defused.
Police authorities disclosed that no lives were lost and no property was damaged.
A 60-year-old suspect, identified as Pentecost Elijah from Otuan Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, was arrested in connection with the incident and is currently under investigation.
