Wike: I Am Wondering He Is Saying To People That We Are Useless And That Our Votes Don’t Count-Dr. Mose Paul,

A video shared on the official X account of LEADERSHIP NEWS on Friday, February 20, 2026, captured the moment Dr. Mose Paul, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) election, openly criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

In the footage, Dr. Paul expressed strong disapproval of remarks allegedly attributed to the FCT Minister, particularly claims suggesting that residents’ votes would not carry weight in the election. He described such statements as inappropriate and damaging to democratic principles, arguing that no public official should undermine citizens’ confidence in the electoral process.

The ADC candidate maintained that suggesting votes would not count sends a discouraging message to the electorate and risks weakening public trust in governance. According to him, leadership should empower citizens and reinforce the importance of participation, rather than diminish it.

Dr. Paul also made reference to Wike’s reputation as “Mr. Project,” a nickname often used to describe the minister’s emphasis on infrastructure development. He argued that if the minister truly prioritizes tangible development and performance, then his own track record in community healthcare should earn support in the AMAC election. Dr. Paul pointed to his efforts in constructing and rehabilitating primary healthcare centres across parts of Abuja as evidence of his commitment to grassroots development and public welfare.

In the video, he voiced concern over what he interpreted as dismissive comments toward residents, saying he was troubled by assertions that portrayed citizens as powerless and suggested their collective will could be ignored. He stressed that democracy depends on the value of each vote and the protection of the people’s mandate.
