G¥nmen abducted eight worshippers, including the pastor’s wife, from the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA) in Omugo, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, and are demanding a ransom of N1 billion for their release.
The Pastor-in-Charge of the church, Toba Omole, told journalists that the victims remain in captivity several days after the att@ck. The abduction happened during a Sunday service when the g¥nmen f+red sh%ts into the air, causing panic before forcibly taking the worshippers away.
Omole said the k+dn@ppers contacted the community on Tuesday, briefly allowing the captives to speak to their families before presenting their ransom demand. “This morning, we were able to hear from those who were abducted. I heard my wife’s voice and those of other members,” he said.
He appealed to the Kwara State Government and the public for support, noting that the demanded sum far exceeds the community’s capacity. “We are appealing for help and intervention, including efforts toward negotiation to secure their release,” Omole stressed.
