Suspected Bandits Ambush Zamfara Governor’s Chief of Staff, Alhaji Mouktar Lugga’s Convoy

G+nmen suspected to be bandits opened fire on the convoy of Alhaji Mouktar Lugga, the Chief of Staff to the Zamfara State Governor, along the Funtua–Gusau highway yesterday evening. The att@ck occurred near Kucheri village at around 6:16 p.m., once again highlighting the persistent insecurity affecting parts of northern Nigeria.

Lugga was returning to Gusau from an official engagement when the att@ckers suddenly emerged from both sides of the road, unleashing heavy g+nfire on the vehicle carrying him, his driver, and two other occupants. A b+llet reportedly pierced the windshield, narrowly missing the driver, while another assailant’s we@pon failed to fire at close range.

Despite the intensity of the ambush, the driver maintained composure and accelerated out of the d@nger zone, ensuring that all occupants escaped unh+rmed.

The latest attack underscores growing concerns over the worsening security situation in Zamfara State, where b@nditry, kidn+ppings, and highway att@cks continue largely unabated despite ongoing military operations.
