Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested 132 suspects and seized over 220 kilograms of ill#cit dr¥gs in a sweeping two-week operation across Abuja.
The coordinated raids, carried out between April 11 and 25, 2026, targeted major dr¥g hotspots across the capital.
The operation, led by the agency’s Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) alongside the FCT Strategic Command, followed weeks of intelligence gathering aimed at dismantling entrenched dr¥g networks.
Areas hit include Torabora Hills, Gwarinpa, AYA, Durumi, Banex, Dei-Dei, Kubwa, Apo, Gwagwalada, Wuse Zone 4, Garki Area 10, Jabi, and Suleja, among others.
Recovered substances include large quantities of sk¥nk (a strain of c@nnabis), as well as D+azepam, Tr@madol, c@caine, R+phynol, m+thamphet@mine, ec§tacy, and c+dein syrup.
Despite resistance from suspected tr+fficjers in parts of Durumi and Suleja, NDLEA operatives subdued the groups without recording any casualties, successfully disrupting their distribution networks.
Speaking on the operation, NDLEA Chairman, Mohamed Buba Marwa, praised the officers for their professionalism and commitment to sanitising the capital. He also directed that in the strategy be replicated in other high-risk cities nationwide to intensify the fight against dr¥g tr+fficking.
