Former Chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulation Commission, NERC, Sam Amadi, has declared his intention to contest the Imo State gubernatorial election in 2027.
Amadi, a staunch supporter of the frontline presidential aspirant of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, made his intention known in a video he shared on X on Friday.
He revealed that his friends and associates urged him to contest the Imo East Senatorial District, but he declined.
“I am grateful to those who wanted me to run for Senate. But I will keep faith with the mission that started with Nnanna Ukaegbu in 1979 for the economic and technological transformation of Imo State.
“We will show to the world an example of transformative leadership that is pragmatic and honest,” Amadi wrote on X.
OSMEK NEWS gathered that the Imo governorship election is one of the country’s off-cyle elections expected to be conducted in November 2027.
Amadi confirmed that he would be contesting under NDC.
