I no longer believe in the vision of Nigeria. I have clocked out — Rapper Blaqbonez

Nigerian rapper, Blaqbonez, has opened up about his views on politics and governance in Nigeria during a recent appearance on the Off The Record podcast.

Speaking during the conversation, the rapper revealed that he has never voted in any election, explaining that he no longer believes in the country’s direction.

“I haven’t voted before,” Blaqbonez said during the interview.

Explaining why, he added, “I kind of feel like I clocked out of Nigeria. Too many things that I hoped would have happened haven’t happened, and I’m just like, this country is just bound to be like this.”

The rapper also said he believes Nigeria’s leaders are simply a reflection of its citizens.

“I feel like our leaders are a representation of us. I don’t see any difference regardless of the party,” he stated.

Using an analogy to explain his point further, Blaqbonez said, “There are so many branches of a tree if the root is rotten. So I feel like I don’t know if I believe in the vision of Nigeria. I feel like something drastic has to happen first for me to believe.”

During the discussion, the interviewer suggested that maybe Nigeria needed a president under the age of 30, but Blaqbonez jokingly replied, “That’s not happening.”

The interviewer also questioned why African countries rarely produce young presidents, insisting that meaningful change can only come from a younger generation.

“The change that we would need to see, especially in African countries, would need to come from this generation. But why can we never get a young candidate?” she asked.

Blaqbonez also joked about possibly running for office himself someday after the podcast host encouraged him to do so.

“Maybe it’s my job to save the country,” he said, adding, “Because I believe in myself.”
