An OnlyFans model, Michaela Rylaarsdam, has been sentenced to four years in prison after a BDSM session with a client ended in tragedy, leading to his d+ath.
Rylaarsdam was sentenced on Monday after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the d+ath of Michael Dale, who s¥ffocating during a paid BDSM encounter at his home in Escondido, California.
According to prosecutors, Dale d+ed after Rylaarsdam placed a plastic bag, plastic wrap and duct tape over his head as part of the session. His limbs were reportedly rest@ined, preventing him from removing the coverings.
Authorities said he was unable to breathe for several minutes before Rylaarsdam called emergency services. Dale was declared brain-d+ad the following day.
The fatal incident occurred in April 2023 after Dale allegedly paid the adult content creator $11,000 to perform BDSM acts.
During her sentencing hearing at the San Diego Superior Court, an emotional Rylaarsdam broke down in tears while apologising to Dale’s family.
“There are no words. ‘I’m sorry’ is not enough,” she said. “The desire to go back and undo this would be at the top. If I could change this…”
Her lawyer argued that the d+ath was accidental, insisting she had no intention of h@rming her client and acted responsibly by immediately calling 911 when she realised something had gone wrong.
“There was no intent to k+ll and no attempt to cover this up,” the attorney said. “She acted appropriately when she realized this was a problem.”
Rylaarsdam, a married mother of three, will serve a four-year prison term following the court’s ruling. Authorities maintained that while the encounter was consensual, consent did not absolve responsibility for the actions that led to Dale’s d+ath.
