INEC Declares APC’s Asogwa Winner of Enugu North Senatorial By-Election after flogging NDC, PDP and ADC

INEC has declared APC candidate Ikeje Asogwa winner of the Enugu North Senatorial District by-election after polling 162,360 votes. PDP candidate Nestor Ezeme came a distant second with 9,299 votes, while NDC secured 3,129 votes, ADC 1,676 votes, LP 1,027 votes, PRP 667 votes, and BP 416 votes.

Following the announcement, Asogwa thanked voters and party stakeholders for their support, while also acknowledging the role of Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and other party leaders in the victory.

However, the PDP and PRP rejected the result, alleging voter intimidation, ballot snatching, vi%lence, and other electoral irregularities. Both parties described the election as a charade and called for its cancellation, with PRP threatening legal action.

Reports from the election indicated that two voters were att@cked in Nsukka LGA, while two journalists covering the exercise were briefly arrested by security operatives before later being released.

Despite the allegations, APC leaders in parts of the district insisted the election was free, fair, and credible.
