The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA has arrested a 34 year old convicted coc@ine trafficker, Dunu Bethel Ebubechukwu, who allegedly disguised himself as a herbal tea businessman while masterminding dr¥g shipments to Saudi Arabia.
According to the agency, the suspect was arrested during a sting operation at Article Market, opposite Trade Fair Market, in the Ojo area of Lagos, on Friday, September 4, 2026.
His arrest followed the interception of 1.2kg of coc@ine concealed inside phone chargers and destined for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at a courier company in Lagos on July 31.
NDLEA said Ebubechukwu admitted masterminding previous ill#citt dr¥g shipments and disclosed that he discarded his SIM card after learning that the latest consignment had been intercepted.
Further investigation revealed that he had previously been arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, in 2011 after ingesting 900g of coc@ine and 130g of h+roind while attempting to travel to Austria. He was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison before later changing his name and returning to the dr¥g trade.
A search of his Ejigbo residence uncovered phone chargers similar to those used to conceal the intercepted coc@ine, with their internal components removed to create space for dr¥gs.
The development was part of a wider NDLEA crackdown across nine states, during which the agency recovered over two million opi%id pills, tonnes of cann@bis, methamphetamine, coc@ine and other ill#cit substances.
