The First Niger Bridge linking Anambra and Delta states is set to be decorated with pictures of President Bola Tinubu after the completion of its ongoing rehabilitation, Minister of Works David Umahi has announced.
Umahi gave the directive on Wednesday while inspecting rehabilitation work on the bridge, saying all illegal advertisements currently mounted on the structure should be removed.
According to him, the space would instead be used to display Tinubu’s pictures in recognition of what he described as the President’s efforts and infrastructure projects in the South-East.
“Once we are done with work on this bridge, I want all the illegal adverts on this bridge removed. Anyone who wants to advertise should apply to the Ministry of Works. For now, the bridge will be decorated with the pictures of President Tinubu.
“The President has worked so hard and we need to reward his hard work by decorating this bridge with his pictures,” Umahi said.
The minister also urged voters in the South-East to consider the Tinubu administration’s infrastructure projects in the region ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He appealed to voters not to throw away their votes, urging them to take into account the projects executed by the Federal Government in the region.
The First Niger Bridge was earlier closed after vandals reportedly removed structural components, including bolts, nuts and part s of its expansion joint.
Umahi said advertisements on the bridge would henceforth require approval from the Ministry of Works.
