The founder of Word Assembly Ministries, Rev. Isaac Omolehin, has revealed that a security thre@t linked to bandits forced him, his wife and children to abandon their home and live in hiding.
Omolehin said he has been unable to return to his residence or ministry camp in Idofian, Ifelodun LGA of Kwara State, after security operatives warned of a possible att@ck.
“I have a house I can’t enter. I have a car I can’t ride. I have to hide myself from the public. If I sleep here today, I’ll sleep somewhere else tomorrow. I’m homeless with my wife and children,” he said.
He disclosed that the crisis began on May 31 when police officers arrived at the camp in the early hours and ordered residents to evacuate following intelligence of an impending bandit att@ck.
According to him, more than 100 people fled the facility, which housed an orphanage, schools, a hospital, an old people’s home and a rehabilitation centre.
“The school cannot open, the hospital is not functioning, and the patients and nurses all ran for their lives,” he said.
Omolehin said the bandits later arrived at the camp but found it deserted.
“They came, the bandits, but they didn’t meet anybody,” he said.
He added that he and his family have since been moving between locations as authorities have yet to confirm that the area is safe for residents to return.
The cleric also stated that his hometown in Kogi State was att@cked three days after the Kwara incident, resulting in the de@ths of some residents.
“Three days after the att@ck on my camp here in Kwara, my village in Kogi State was also att@cked, and my people were k+lled,”he said.
He said the camp’s buildings were not destroyed, but thi£ves later broke into the abandoned facility and stole belongings.
“The kidnappers did not come to steal refrigerators, fans or mattresses. They came for human beings,” he said.
“Some of the children in the orphanage were brought to us by the government. Even if they say they don’t care about the rest of us, what about the children they entrusted to us?” he asked.
