Former American Idol Contestant Caleb Flynn, Sentenced To Life In Prison For M¥rdering His Wife

Former ‘American Idol’ contestant and pastor, Caleb Flynn, 40, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole after being convicted of m¥rdering his 37-year-old wife, Ashley Flynn, in Ohio, United States.

Flynn was found guilty last week after prosecutors argued that he sh%t Ashley while she slept and staged their Tipp City home to make it appear an intruder had broken in through the garage. Flynn claimed he was asleep when he heard g¥nsh%ts and later found his wife de@d in bed, with the garage door open. Their two daughters, aged 9 and 11 at the time, were also in the house.

The jury rejected his account and also convicted him on eight additional charges, including aggravated m¥rder and tampering with evidence.

Evidence presented at trial included police body-camera footage, activity from Flynn’s iPhone and Apple Watch, and messages exchanged with his former mistress, Alleigha Botner, whom he met while she was an intern at his church. Botner read some of their messages in court, including one in which Flynn said he had been thinking of ways to k+ll his wife without going to jail. In another, he wrote that he wanted her “de@d and gone.”

During Monday’s sentencing, Flynn’s daughters had emotional letters read in court. One questioned how he could k+ll their mother, while the other asked him to admit what he had done and said she would never visit him in prison.

Flynn sobbed as the letters were read. He later apologised for unspecified “decisions” but continued to deny k+lling Ashley.

Judge Jeannine Pratt described Flynn as an “extreme” risk to the public before imposing the life sentence. His lawyer, Patrick Mulligan, said he plans to appeal.

Flynn briefly appeared on ‘American Idol’ in 2013, where he described his love for Ashley.
