An Iranian asylum seeker, Hossein Mohmoudi, 37, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for attempting to r+pe a 43-year-old woman after stalking her for about an hour as she returned from a Christmas party in December 2024.

Mohmoudi followed the woman for about three miles, from Whitechapel to Stratford, before att@cking her in an alleyway. The a§§ault was interrupted after 27 seconds by a cyclist who came to her rescue.

During his trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court, Mohmoudi reportedly denied the allegation, claiming he could not have committed the offence because he had a “micropen+s.” Two doctors examined him, with consultant urologist Dr George Fowlis telling the court that his pen+s was normal.

He also claimed to have a low s+x drive due to obesity, sm%king and depr+ssion. However, the court heard that he had communicated on a fetish website before the att@ck, a claim he said was an attempt to practise his English.

Sentencing him, Judge Sarah-Jane Griffiths described him as a “dangerous s+xual pred@tor” and said the evidence against him was overwhelming. She added that he had shown no remorse and that the offence had caused the victim severe psychological h@rm.

The court also heard that Mohmoudi had previously followed other women and engaged in hara§§ment. He was sentenced to an extended licence period of four years in addition to his prison term and could face deportation after serving his custodial sentence.
