Actor Niyi Ralph has claimed that opposition to President Bola Tinubu is not primarily because of the state of the Nigerian economy, but because some Nigerians have not accepted his victory in the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking during a recent interview, Ralph said Tinubu was never loved by some Nigerians from the beginning, describing him as a “special breed and type that’s enviable.”
He argued that the anger against the president is largely coming from those who believe they won the 2023 election, particularly supporters of Labour Party candidate Peter Obi, popularly known as Obidients.
“People’s anger was because he won the 2023 election after all Nigeria has experienced. Those who believe they won that we don’t even know how they came to that conclusion, I mean the Obidients, and they’re still hurt,” he said.
According to Ralph, the resentment has made some people condemn Tinubu’s actions regardless of whether they are good or bad.
“And you know because of that hurt there’s nothing you want do whether good or bad, they’ll condemn it,” he added.
The actor also challenged Nigerians who believe Tinubu is not performing well to present their own plans for governing the country.
“You all are complaining that he’s not doing well and you want to do it, ok come out and tell us your plan cos Tinubu told us his plan before he assumed office and he’s doing it,” Ralph said.
