President Bola Tinubu has urged Youths to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and vote in the forthcoming election, insisting that the country’s future and continued progress depend on their decisions at the polls.
Addressing Nigerians, Tinubu emphasised the importance of participating in the electoral process, describing the PVC as a tool citizens can use to shape their future.
“To the youth Nigeria, I’m looking at you. This election is about you. It’s not on me. Your future depends on this election. This progress, no reverse gear. It is left for you to use the weapon you have. And that weapon is the PVC. If you have not collected yours, please go ahead, collect it. Please, I beg you. I thank God. Bless you,” he said.
The president also linked his administration’s economic agenda to the fight against poverty, urging Nigerians to support what he described as progressive development.
“Now, the weapon you have against poverty is to elect progressive development of our economy. That is what I’m pursuing,” he stated.
Tinubu further accused previous administrations of leaving behind substantial unpaid pension and gratuity obligations, claiming his government was addressing the outstanding payments.
“The people that governed before, they left unpaid pensions and gratuity in billions and trillions of naira. That is being cleared so that any family is included. We are sharing prosperity already. A retired engineer is receiving their gratuity right now,” he said.
