The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has openly admitted that the enormous responsibilities of managing Abuja are beginning to weigh heavily on him. Wike made this emotional confession during the official flag-off of the construction of Arterial Road N1, linking Wuye District to Ring Road II in Abuja.

While many in attendance expected the former Rivers State governor to deliver a motivational and optimistic speech, they were shocked when he instead poured out his heart, revealing the strain of his office. Speaking with deep emotions, Wike confessed that the workload has not been easy, describing it as a huge burden he cannot hide from the people.

In an interview with Ager Crusta TV shortly after the event, the FCT Minister further explained that though he feels exhausted, he remains fully committed to fulfilling the mandate given to him by President Bola Tinubu and Nigerians who trust him to deliver.

In his words: “To be candid, I’m tired, I’m tired, I won’t lie to you people. I just felt that, well, you know when you have a responsibility, you have no choice but to carry out the responsibilities that have been given to you.”

His candid admission has stirred mixed reactions among Nigerians. While some sympathize with him, acknowledging the huge pressure that comes with transforming the capital city, others believe it is part of the sacrifice of leadership, especially for someone holding such a sensitive national office.
