Former Governor of Abia State and Senator, Orji Uzor Kalu, has said that U.S. President Donald Trump was “speaking the truth” in his recent remarks about widespread k+llingsin Nigeria.
Addressing journalists at the National Assembly on Monday, Kalu noted that thousands of Nigerians have lost their lives in att+cks carried out by t%rrorists, bandits, and k+dnappers. He stressed that the victims cut across religious lines.
“Donald Trump spoke the truth; Nigerians are being k+lled. Whether they are Christians or Muslims, they are Nigerians,” Kalu said.
He explained that in northern states such as Zamfara, Katsina, and Jigawa—where the population is largely Muslim—most of those killed are Muslims. Meanwhile, in predominantly Christian states like Benue and Plateau, most casualties are Christians.
Kalu also suggested that Trump’s remarks were likely informed by U.S. intelligence assessments, stating that, “Before Donald Trump spoke, the American intelligence community must have found out where these people are residing.”
He urged the Federal Government and the Nigerian military to intensify ongoing operations against insurgency and banditry to stem the continued loss of lives.
