NAF Air Str+kes Disrupt T%rrorist Networks in North-East, North-West
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out a series of intelligence-led air interdiction operations across the North-East and North-West, neutralising t%rrorist elements and severely degrading their logistics and operational capabilities.
According to the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the operations were conducted between January 1 and 2 under Operations HADIN KAI and FASAN YAMMA Sector 2.
Ejodame said the air str+kes were based on actionable intelligence on t%rrorist movements, hideouts and supply routes. NAF aircraft engaged identified enclaves, transit corridors and assembly areas to deny the groups freedom of action.
In the North-East, he said precision str+kes were executed on t%rrorist hideouts at Abirma and Chiralia within the Timbuktu Triangle after sustained surveillance confirmed the presence of facilities linked to improvised explosive device (IED) production and att+ck planning.
The str+kes d+stroyed the targeted structures, with multiple secondary explosions observed, indicating the elimination of expl@sive stockpiles and logistics.
Further interdiction missions at Guva in the Mandara Mountains, Ejodame added, dismantled additional t%rrorist storage and coordination points, significantly weakening the groups’ ability to regroup or launch att+cks.
The operations were also extended to the North-West, where NAF aircraft str¥ck t%rrorist elements around Karaduwa Giginya Na in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The t%rrorists, who were tracked moving in large motorcycle convoys, were engaged at a forested convergence point, resulting in the neutralisation of several fighters, d%struction of multiple motorcycles and recovery of assorted w+apons.
Ejodame said the sustained air operations highlighted the NAF’s commitment to supporting joint forces on the ground and dismantling t%rrorist networks nationwide, assuring that precision air missions would continue to protect civilians and restore peace and security.
