Light Has Improved; Nigerians Have More Power Now Than They Did In 2015 And 2023 – President Tinubu’s aide, Bwala

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, has said that electricity supply has improved in some parts of the country, adding that Nigerians currently experience more power than they did in 2015 and 2023.

Speaking on the state of power generation and distribution with arise TV, Bwala noted that while challenges still exist, some areas such as the Federal Capital Territory have seen relative stability in electricity supply compared to other regions. He also acknowledged that complaints about electricity often focus on tariffs rather than availability in certain locations.

He explained that government reforms have helped open up the power sector to wider participation, stressing that the legal framework now allows states, local governments, and private investors to take part in both generation and distribution.

“We have created the legislative environment that has given rise to the capacity of state, local government, and even the private sector to participate in both generation and distribution of power,” he said.

Bwala further argued that progress in the sector should be judged by actual electricity supply rather than political comparisons. According to him, Nigerians are more concerned about the number of hours of electricity they receive than campaign-era benchmarks.

He added that while some may compare the present situation with 2015 or 2023, what matters most is whether citizens are experiencing improved power delivery in real terms, insisting that there has been measurable improvement in supply in recent years.
