Irate youth burn down police station over the killing of a boy in Imo

There was panic on Tuesday morning, at Ishinweke, the headquarters of Ihitte Uboma council area of Imo State, as youth of the community burnt a police division over the alleged killing of a boy by policemen serving in the area.

The protesting youths also burnt patrol vehicles and freed all detainees at the police station as policemen on duty scampered for safety. TheNation gathered that two other officers sustained machete cut injuries during the invasion.

The Police Spokesperson in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed the incident. He said that policemen went for an arrest in the area but were attacked by the youths.

He also confirmed that two Policemen were injured and a suspect freed by the youths. He said it was in a bid for the policemen who he said were in danger to protect and defend themselves, that a stray bullet hit one of the youths and he later died in a hospital.
